The Dog House's Full Service Groom
All the Grooming Necessities at an Affordable Price!
Full Service Groom Includes:
1. Ear Cleaning with Hair Removal:
Many breeds grow hair within the ear canal, which traps dirt and debris.
We carefully remove the hair with ear powder and thoroughly clean the ear with cleanser to
dissolve earwax and reduce odor.
2. Nail Clip & Grind:
Nails should be trimmed regularly. Overgrown nails can grow into the pad, causing
infection, or can displace the pads, causing unwanted pressure on leg and hip joints.
We do not charge extra for nail grinding! In fact, most dogs prefer it!
3. Pad Hair Removal:
Hair grows in between dog's pads, known as interdigital hair, and collects dirt, debris and
knots. This hair should be removed regularly to ensure better traction.
4. Sanitary, Belly & Arm-pit Shave:
We carefully shave these delicate areas to keep them clean and knot-free.
5. Pre-Bath Brush Out & Haircut:
At this step, we determine the type of cut the dog will receive based on breed,
owner's request and coat condition. Should a dog be matted down to the skin,
it is in the pet's best interest to have a "summer cut" to prevent any pain associated
with removing knots too close to the skin.
6. 3-Point Check:
Fleas, ticks and lumps: all of which may be detected with regular groomings! Should a pet be
found with fleas/ticks, they will be treated with the appropriate products and additional fees
will be added to full service grooming price (see price below).
7. Anal Gland Expression:
Have you noticed your dog scooting its butt across the floor? No, that is not a new trick
they learned over night! Every dog has two glands located on either side of its rectal
opening, which holds a brown, noxious-smelling liquid often expressed when a dog
goes to the bathroom. However, small and medium-size dogs have trouble releasing
this liquid. They scoot across the floor to try to relieve the irritation it is causing them.
We express these glands during bath time to prevent irritation, infection and even impaction,
which can lead to a vet visit if not addressed.
8. Bath Time:
We use products that gently clean the skin and coat without stripping away natural body oils,
while moisturizing and conditioning as well. We also analyze the skin for any conditions and
utilize products to relieve those symptoms including irritated, inflamed, oily and flaky skin.
9. Doggie Dry:
At The Dog House we feature room temperature cage dryers with ventilated sides to
ensure safety. We also use a high-velocity blower to remove a shedding undercoat.
Dogs love it because it feels like a massage!
At this stage, your pet will recieve a final brush/comb out, haircut and style. That is right, we
give your pet two haircuts- pre and post bath!
11. Perfume/Cologne & Finishing Spray:
We love our scented sprays, which are season-inspired: Sugar Cookie for Christmas,
Cherry Blossom for Spring and Pina Colada for Summer...just to name a few!
A good finishing spray with lanolin or sunscreen is perfect to protect any pet's coat during the
cold winter months or warm summer months.
